Roti John

Roti John originated from the neighbor of Malaysia, Singapore where a hawker made this dish from bread, meat and egg to satisfy a British officer craving for his country's food. Since then, it went through many transformation with people adding a lot of spices and sauces to give a distinct flavor from one to another. In Malaysia, Roti John is popular dish on sale during Ramadan or fasting month but nowadays, even local burger stalls started to offer this dish every night to fill hungry stomach.


Ingredients

250g minced meat
1 onion
2 garlic cloves
1 teaspoon curry powder
4 eggs
1 tablespoon butter
3 tablespoons cooking oil
6 roll buns
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon black pepper
mayonnaise
chili sauce
cabbage (grated)
cucumber (julienne cut)



Instructions

Chop onion and garlic finely
Heat oil/butter and saute chopped ingredients along with curry powder
Add minced meat and salt. Let it cook and set it aside
Cut the roll in half but not all the way through. You want to be able to cook the inside of roll on flat
Add eggs to cooked minced meat and mix well
Heat butter on pan and spread the egg-meat mixture on it
Place the roll on the mixture's layer and wait until the egg started to become solid
Flip it over and let it cook further until the bottom of the roll become crispy
Set it aside and pour chili sauce and mayonnaise on the roll
Roti John DONE!
